Joshua 24:1–13 〈A History of Salvation That Began with Grace〉

📖 Joshua 24:1–13 〈A History of Salvation That Began with Grace〉

Verse 13
“I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build, and you live in them. You eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.”

God Who Has Led Us by Grace

Joshua gathers Israel at Shechem and calls them to remember God’s saving history.
From the calling of Abraham, through the Exodus, the wilderness, and into Canaan, every beginning and every step was shaped by God’s sovereign grace.
It was not Israel’s merit or strength, but God who acted first.

It Was Not What I Accomplished

God declares that He gave them “a land you did not toil for.”
Salvation is entirely a gift from God.
The same is true of our faith today.
We do not stand on our spiritual achievements, but on the redemptive work God Himself has accomplished.

Grace Calls Us to Remember

God retells the whole story so that His people will not forget His grace.
Remembering is the pathway that guards faith.
When we hold fast to past grace, obedience in the present becomes possible.

🙏 Prayer

Gracious God,
we confess that we are here not because of what we have done, but because of what You have done.
Help us lay down our pride and remember Your grace.
Teach us to trust Your hand today and walk in obedience.

🔍 Application

• Reflect on where your salvation truly began.
• Speak of grace before speaking of achievement.
• Pass on the grace you have received to the next generation.

💡 Meditation Point

Salvation always begins with God.
Those who remember grace are the ones who persevere in faith.
