Matthew 7:13–29 〈 The Narrow Way, A Life Built on the Rock 〉
📖 Matthew 7:13–29 〈 The Narrow Way, A Life Built on the Rock 〉
24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
✨ Standing Before Two Roads — The Choice Is Clear
Jesus describes life as two roads: a wide road and a narrow one.
The wide road looks easy, and many people walk on it. But its destination is destruction.
The narrow road looks difficult and lonely, yet it leads to life (Matthew 7:13–14).
The Lord allows no middle ground. Faith is not vague or neutral; it demands a clear decision.
Before the gospel, we must choose a road.
✨ Faith Revealed Not by Appearance, but by Fruit
Jesus warns us about false prophets. The test is not their words or outward appearance, but their fruit (Matthew 7:16).
True faith reveals itself through the direction and fruit of one’s life.
This reflects the gospel principle that saving faith always transforms a person.
Grace never leaves us unchanged.
✨ “Lord, Lord” — Yet an Unknown Relationship
Some say, “Lord, Lord,” yet Jesus responds, “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23).
Even abundant religious activity can be empty if there is no true relationship with Christ.
Salvation does not come from human effort, but from union with Christ.
✨ A Life Built on the Rock
Matthew 7 concludes with the parable of two builders.
The house that does not fall—despite rain, floods, and winds—is the one built on the rock.
That rock is a life that hears the Word and puts it into practice (Matthew 7:24).
We must not stop at listening. The gospel must be the foundation of our lives.
Only a life built on the words of Christ will stand firm on the day of testing.
This is obedience grounded in grace.
🙏 Prayer
Lord of truth,
You know how our hearts are drawn to the wide and comfortable road.
Lead us instead to choose the way of life.
Give us a faith that is not merely spoken, but built upon Your Word.
Enable us to live lives founded on the Rock, unshaken in every storm.
Help us to cling to the grace found only in Jesus Christ, to the very end.

💡 Meditation Point
Faith is not about appearance; it is about foundation.
Reject the temptation of the wide road and choose the narrow way—this itself is the work of grace.
Build your life on the Word.
Those who are in Christ may be shaken, but they will not be destroyed.
Today, live as one who is building on the Rock.
