📖 Matthew 15:29–39 < When We Remain with the Lord, We Experience Abundant Grace >
39 After Jesus had sent the crowd away, he got into the boat and went to the vicinity of Magadan.
✨ Restoration Begins Even in the Wilderness
Jesus healed many along the Sea of Galilee. The blind, the lame, and the mute were restored. The people were amazed and glorified the God of Israel.
After being with the crowd for three days, Jesus said, “I have compassion for these people” (Matt. 15:32). His compassion extended even to their physical needs. God’s grace is not directed only to the soul but to the whole person. Salvation is not an abstract idea; it is the power that renews real life.
✨ God’s Power Added to Small Obedience
The disciples asked, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?” By calculation, it was impossible. But Jesus asked, “How many loaves do you have?”
Seven loaves and a few small fish. It was little, yet in the hands of Jesus it became abundance. They all ate and were satisfied, and seven basketfuls were left over. Grace does not begin with our sufficiency. It begins when we bring our insufficiency to Jesus. God gives first; we receive by faith.
✨ The Abundance Experienced by Those Who Remain with Him
The crowd stayed with Jesus for three days. They listened to His teaching, experienced healing, and were finally filled. It was not a momentary emotion. Remaining with the Lord produces repentance and transformation.
The same is true for us. If we push Jesus to the margins because of busyness, the wilderness continues. But when we remain in the Word and prayer, Jesus fills our lives.
🙏 Prayer
Compassionate Lord, thank You for knowing our needs and filling us with Your grace. Help us to obey in faith rather than live by calculation and fear. As we offer our small devotion to You, let us daily experience the abundant grace of the God who answers generously.
🔍 Application
Offer your “small loaves” to the Lord today — your time, your gifts, your heart.
Prioritize the place of the Word and prayer over a busy schedule.
Take time to share the gospel deeply with one soul.
💡 Meditation Point
When we remain with the Lord, even the wilderness becomes a banquet. Grace surpasses calculation. Do not hide your insufficiency — bring it to Him. In Christ, we already taste the beginning of abundance.
