Matthew 20:29–34 < A Cry of Faith to the Powerful Lord >
📖 Matthew 20:29–34 < A Cry of Faith to the Powerful Lord >
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
✨ The Cry of Two Men in Darkness
As Jesus was leaving Jericho, two blind men were sitting by the roadside.
When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they shouted,
“Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder.
Even in their darkness, they believed one thing:
Only Jesus could save them.
This scene shows us what faith truly is.
Faith does not arise because circumstances are good.
Faith cries out to Jesus even in the middle of despair.
God does not look at our outward appearance.
He hears the cry of the heart.
✨ The Lord Who Stops and Asks
Jesus heard their cry and stopped.
Then He asked,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
The Lord already knew their need.
Yet He asked this question so that their faith would be expressed.
The two blind men replied,
“Lord, we want our sight.”
They believed that Jesus was the Son of David — the promised Messiah.
True faith looks to Jesus within the grace God provides.
Such faith has the power to transform a life.
✨ The Compassionate and Powerful Lord
Jesus did not rebuke them.
Instead, He had compassion on them and touched their eyes.
At that moment they received their sight and immediately began following Him.
What is important here is the life after their eyes were opened.
They became followers of Jesus.
The gospel does more than solve problems.
It changes the direction of a person's entire life.
That is why the gospel is called
“the power of God that transforms a whole life.”
🙏 Prayer
Merciful Lord,
there are times when our eyes are dark and we cannot see Your grace.
Sometimes the voices of the world keep us from crying out to You.
Give us the faith to cry out to You like the two blind men.
Open our eyes so that we may see Your grace.
And lead us to follow You as disciples with lives that have been healed.
🔍 Application
• Instead of becoming discouraged in difficulties, cry out to Jesus even more earnestly like the two blind men.
• Look not at people’s opinions, but at the mercy of the Lord, and confess your faith.
• If you have experienced God’s grace, respond by choosing a life that follows the Lord.
💡 Meditation Point
Faith does not begin when circumstances improve.
It begins with a heart that cries out to Jesus even in the darkness.
The powerful Lord never ignores that cry.
Cry out to the Lord in faith today.
He will open your eyes and lead you into the path of grace.
