Matthew 21:1–11 < The Humble King, the Fulfiller of Prophecy >
📖 Matthew 21:1–11 < The Humble King, the Fulfiller of Prophecy >
9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
✨ The King Who Came as Prophesied
Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey.
This fulfilled the prophecy:
“See, your king comes to you,
righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” (Zechariah 9:9)
God always fulfills the word He has promised.
The kingdom of God is not built on human zeal,
but on the fulfillment of God's Word.
✨ The King Who Came in Humility
The people expected a political king who would overthrow Rome.
But Jesus rode on a donkey.
This reveals a king who rules not by power,
but by sacrifice.
Christ’s kingship appears in a completely different way from worldly authority.
Though He is King, He became a servant.
He chose not the path of earthly glory,
but the path of the cross.
Humility is not weakness.
It is the strength that fully trusts in God's redemptive plan.
✨ Changing Crowds, Unchanging King
The crowd that shouted “Hosanna!”
would cry out just days later, “Crucify him!”
Human expectations change easily,
but God’s will never changes.
Jesus did not become King because of the crowd’s praise.
Within the Father’s plan, the Son’s obedience,
and the Spirit’s work,
He was already the true King.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, our King,
forgive me for seeking victory in the ways of the world.
Help me follow the path of the King
who came riding on a donkey.
Give me faith to trust in the fulfillment of Your Word.
Let me stand not on human expectations,
but on the promises of God.
🔍 Application
Reflect on whether you see Jesus only as a problem-solver for your needs.
Examine whether you are revealing the kingdom of God through humble service.
Hold on to one verse today and confess your trust in God’s promises.
💡 Meditation Point
The humble King stands not on human applause,
but on the promises of God.
The road to the cross
is the road to victory.
Today we live not by the power of the world,
but by trusting in the fulfillment of God’s Word.
Solus Christus
Sola Gratia
Soli Deo Gloria.
