📖 Matthew 25:1–13 < A Wise Readiness to Meet the Bridegroom >
13 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
✨ A Prepared Faith: A Life with Oil
The parable of the ten virgins shows that although all may appear to have the same faith outwardly, in the end there is a division between those who are prepared and those who are not.
The foolish virgins had lamps but no oil, and at the final moment, the door was shut.
This parable speaks of true conversion and enduring faith.
Salvation begins by God’s grace, but that grace inevitably reveals itself in a transformed life and a watchful faith.
✨ True Faith Revealed in Waiting
The delay of the bridegroom reflects our reality.
When prayers seem unanswered and life does not quickly change, we are prone to fall asleep.
However, the wise virgins prepared oil.
This oil represents a life of faith sustained in the Holy Spirit.
True faith is not momentary enthusiasm, but an ongoing relationship sustained by the Word and grace.
✨ The Gospel Makes Waiting Possible
This parable does not say, “Try harder.”
Rather, it asks, “What are you prepared with?”
We cannot produce oil on our own.
We are prepared only by the grace of Jesus Christ—by grace alone, through faith alone.
Therefore, watchfulness is assurance.
Because we believe, “The bridegroom will surely come,” we can continue faithfully today.
🙏 Prayer
Lord, our Bridegroom, hold our hearts steady as we wait.
Grant us not a formal faith, but a living faith in the Holy Spirit.
Help us today to prepare oil through Your Word and grace, and to live as those ready to meet You.
🔍 Application
-
Examine whether your faith is merely outward form without true “oil.”
-
Fill your day with the Word and prayer, and live a truly prepared life.
-
The longer the waiting, the more firmly hold onto the gospel and choose unwavering faith.
💡 Meditation Point
Faith is not about how it begins, but whether it remains prepared to the end.
The Bridegroom will surely come.
Therefore, stay awake in grace today.
A life prepared by the gospel—not mere form—will lead to true joy on the final day.
