📖 Matthew 25:31–46 < The Standard of Final Judgment: Faith Revealed Through Works >

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

✨ Faith Must Be Revealed in Life

Jesus makes the standard of the final judgment very clear. Surprisingly, the criterion is “how one has lived.” Feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, and welcoming the stranger become the visible standard.

However, this does not mean that we are saved by works. We are justified by faith alone. Then why are works the standard of judgment?

Because true faith inevitably manifests itself in life. Works are not the cause of salvation, but the evidence of salvation.

✨ Faith Without Works Does Not Exist

The difference between the sheep and the goats that Jesus describes begins from an inner transformation. When the Holy Spirit regenerates a person, the direction of life changes.

A once-dead soul comes to life, and love for others begins to flow naturally. In other words, one’s entire life becomes God-centered.

Grace inevitably puts sin to death and expresses itself through love. Therefore, if someone says, “I believe,” yet shows no change in life, that is not the faith the Bible speaks of.

✨ Loving the Least Is Loving Christ

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

This reveals the essence of faith. Love for God must be expressed as love for others. The gospel opens our hearts and leads us to actively love people.

The gospel goes beyond personal comfort—it has the power to transform relationships.

✨ Salvation That Begins with Grace Is Proven by Life

We are not saved by works. But those who are saved will inevitably show it through their actions.

Salvation that begins with God’s grace bears fruit in life through the work of the Holy Spirit. And on the final day, that fruit will reveal the authenticity of one’s faith.

Therefore, the day of judgment is not merely a day of fear, but a day when how grace has worked in our lives is revealed.

🙏 Prayer

Righteous God,
let us not merely confess faith with our lips, but reveal it through our lives.
Help us to understand that loving the least is loving You.
Transform our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit.
May the salvation that began by grace bear visible fruit in our lives.

🔍 Application

Examine whether your faith is only a verbal confession.

Practice tangible love toward at least one person today.

Remember that even small acts of service are done unto Christ.

💡 Meditation Point

The standard of the final judgment is “works,” but its essence is “faith.”
True faith always expresses itself through love.

Today, remain in the grace of the gospel, and make a deliberate decision to prove your faith through your life.
