📖 Matthew 26:26–35 < A Life of Faith Sustained by the Grace of the Lord’s Supper >
28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
✨ The Lord’s Supper: The Visible Grace of the Gospel
Through the bread and the cup, Jesus gave His body and blood.
This is the “visible gospel.”
God does not only speak through His Word, but also truly communicates His grace through the sacraments.
At this table, we do not hold on to “what we have done,”
but once again grasp “what Christ has done for us.”
This is the very center of the gospel.
✨ The Blood of the Covenant: God Who Holds Our Fragile Faith
Even immediately after receiving the Lord’s Supper,
the disciples were weak and would soon deny Jesus.
Yet Jesus does not rely on their faith,
but holds them fast based on the “covenant” established by His own blood.
✨ Life After the Lord’s Supper: Living by Grace
The Lord’s Supper must now continue into our daily lives.
As those who have eaten and drunk Christ,
we are called to live the life of Christ.
Justification and sanctification are distinct, yet inseparable.
Those justified by grace will inevitably move toward a life lived by grace.
The Lord’s Supper is both
“a place where we receive grace”
and “the starting point of a transformed life.”
🙏 Prayer
Covenant God, we thank You for giving us life through the body and blood of Christ.
Help us not to depend on our weak faith, but to cling only to Your grace.
May the grace of the Lord’s Supper continue into our daily lives,
so that we may live by the gospel.
🔍 Application
Examine yourself: Are you maintaining your faith by “works,” or living by “grace”?
Remember the meaning of the Lord’s Supper, and live today as a life shaped by the gospel.
Practice forgiveness and love in your relationships, and let the grace you received flow out to others.
💡 Meditation Point
The Lord’s Supper is not a past event, but grace for today.
Our faith may waver, but Christ’s covenant never does.
Therefore, feed on grace and live by grace.
This is the true faith that follows the Lord’s Supper.
