Psalm 96:1–13 < The Judge of All Nations Worthy of Praise and Worship >

📖 Psalm 96:1–13 < The Judge of All Nations Worthy of Praise and Worship >

13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

✨ Why All the Earth Must Praise God

The psalmist declares, “Sing to the Lord a new song.” This is a response to the saving works of God. God is not the God of one nation only, but the sovereign Lord of all the earth. Every nation and culture is under His rule and is ultimately called to worship Him. Our worship today is a public confession as people who belong to the kingdom of God.

✨ The Day of Judgment: Not Fear, but Hope

The passage proclaims that God “comes to judge.” For many, judgment is something to fear. Yet the Bible also declares it as good news. Why? Because God’s judgment is the completion of justice that sets right an unjust world. It is the day when confusion and injustice end, and God’s righteousness is fully revealed. Therefore, for those in Christ, judgment is not destruction, but a day of restoration and fulfillment.

✨ Glory to God Alone: The Essence of Worship

Psalm 96 ultimately leads to one conclusion: “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name.” The purpose of our lives and worship is God Himself. We often think of worship as a time to receive comfort. However, Scripture emphasizes that it is first something we give to God. Paradoxically, when we focus on God, our lives are restored. This is the paradox of the gospel.

🙏 Prayer

Righteous God, sovereign Lord of all the earth, we praise You. Help us to fix our eyes on You, even when our hearts are shaken. Let us see the day of judgment not with fear, but with hope. Lead us to live as worshipers who glorify You in our daily lives.

🔍 Application

• Today, intentionally choose actions that bring glory to God.
• Trust and entrust unjust situations to God’s righteousness.
• Rebuild your understanding of worship—not as something you receive, but something you offer.

💡 Meditation Point

God’s judgment is not fear, but the fulfillment of justice. Worship is a life that gives glory to Him. Today, live not by the eyes of people, but by the standard of God’s glory.
